American Solar specializes in the engineering, installation and integration of grid-tied solar systems with battery storage and backup. Our first storage system was commissioned in 2007 and is still running perfectly today. American Solar works with owners and project engineers to quantify the critical loads for emergency backup (lights, appliances, refrigeration, etc.) and will help you determine what percentage of your battery should be dedicated to storing excess energy for self-consumption.

Energy storage systems are fuel less, silent, maintenance free, entirely automatic and provide continuous power without interruption (unlike a generator). Your grid-tied solar system will continue to operate during a blackout to supply power through to the critical loads. If there is excess power available from the solar system, it will replenish the battery, while in back-up mode, effectively becoming a continuous off-grid solar system.
